How this severance estimate works

This tool adds up the common severance items under Brazilian CLT: remaining salary balance, notice period, proportional vacation with the constitutional 1/3, proportional 13th salary, and the FGTS fine — all computed locally in your browser using simplified formulas.

Why does the termination type change the result so much?

Brazilian law treats each termination type differently: notice period and the FGTS fine (40% or 20%) only apply in some cases, while "justa causa" removes most severance rights.

What if I don’t know my exact FGTS balance?

The tool estimates it as 8% of your salary per month worked, which is the mandatory monthly deposit rate — it ignores employer delays, interest, and prior withdrawals.

Does this include unused vacation I already took?

No, it only estimates the proportional vacation for the current accrual period. Vacation periods already completed and not yet paid are not modeled here.
